Ten years where communications meets technology, building the tools as well as running the work.
I took an intelligence practice from analysts at desks to a business built on AI, data and automation, and counselled executive teams in technology, energy, pharmaceuticals and finance through their highest-stakes moments.
I do my best work designing for three kinds of people at once - the expert inside the building, the expert outside it, and the person who just needs the answer.
One capability, pointed at what matters.
Most AI products fail by starting too wide. I start with one thing the machine can do reliably, find the stream of information where it is worth most, then carry it somewhere new.
Build one thing well
A core capability - turning live speech into searchable, timed text - built until it was dependable enough to run client work on every day.
Aim it at the richest data
The same engine pointed at a high-value public stream and sold as a product, with agents that match on meaning rather than keywords.
Carry it somewhere new
The capability extended into a second medium, opening a new market from work that was already paid for.
Things I have made real.
Live speech, live insight
No product on the market captured what we needed end to end. We started by taping services together, then replaced each outside dependency with our own, while delivering for clients every day. Teams that used to write a call up afterwards could act while it was still running.
Meaning, not keywords
Swarms of AI agents reading live proceedings for concepts and implications, so a policy discussed in industry jargon is caught where a keyword alert would miss it.
For the expert and the newcomer
I drafted the product designs and owned the experience of the platform a whole practice worked in daily. Every screen had to work for the specialist who lived in it, the client expert checking it, and the reader who just needed the answer. I led its engineers directly, then set the standards for them as a partner team.
A practice rebuilt on AI
New revenue came from software-enhanced services rather than added headcount - in-house capture and transcription, automated routing, and a bespoke content system.
On my own desk
An audio engineer since I was fourteen, I build my own tools: a transcription pipeline that tells speakers apart and recognises voices, a Mac app that writes a live transcript of any call, and a set of AI agents that run my working week.
